Toby DeHay serves the churches of the Kentucky Baptist Convention on the Evangelism Team as a Church Planting and Development Associate. He joined the KBC staff in May 2018. Toby received his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, Kentucky, and earned an MDiv degree with an emphasis in North American Church Planting and a DMin degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His DMin dissertation is entitled “Equipping the Churches of Little Bethel Baptist Association for Evangelism Using Charles Brock’s Good News for You Evangelism Method.” He enjoys writing at his website (tobydehay.com) and enjoys reading, writing, and researching tools regarding disciplemaking. Toby and his wife Christy live in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she teaches nursing at WKU. The DeHay’s are members at Bethany Baptist in Alvaton, Kentucky, where he serves as a trustee.
Toby helps and encourages churches, associations, and leaders to explore church planting, to build an intentional leadership pipeline, and to multiply themselves through biblical church planting. He offers coaching, consultations, and helps guide biblically qualified and local church sent men through an assessment process. He also encourages churches to provide emerging leaders an opportunity to learn about church planting and replanting through an apprenticeship or residency. Information about planting, replanting, and apprenticeships can be found at kbcplanterportal.org. Toby works with his group, associations, and churches to encourage churches to see the need for more churches by collaborating with leaders and designing the kbcsnapshots.org website to provide a look at areas of need throughout Kentucky. He is an advocate for the bi-vocational/co-vocational pastor and regularly encourages and equips these leaders through webinars, in-person training, and by serving these leaders at the annual bi-vocational retreat each fall. Toby also encourages churches in their evangelistic work through training, producing gospel tracts, and working with KBC teammates to produce other helpful material.
